The orange of the walls and blue of the shutters are complementary colours which I thought looked really beautiful together. Because both colours are quite pale they look soft and relaxing together. They are evenly spaced providing quite an ordered photo.
The top picture shows purples and yellows which are complementary colours. The colours are both in the jar contents and in the labels which adds an extra dimension. I liked the way the purples were all slightly different ranging from darker deep purple to a redder purple. The yellows go from deep, strong yellow of the jar contents to the greeny yellow labels which, against the darker jar contents look more green than yellow. The red berries with green leaves look harmonious together. Added to this the texture of the leaves and the berries - both small roundish shapes - makes them look like red and green gemstones which was the effect I wanted.

I wanted to take a picture of some clementines in my blue fruit bowl because I've always really loved the way they look together. They are vibrant and attractive. This is a good and straightforward example of complementary colours.
