Exercise: Colour relationships - part two

Here I have chosen colour combinations that appealed to me.

The purple flowers against green leaves are contrasting colours but because the purple is quite pale (and therefore going towards red on the colour wheel) they are almost complementary which means that they look quite pleasing and relaxing to my eye. I really like green/pink combinations for this reason.

The signpost is blue and brown, another combination I really like. I think that is because they are complementary colours.

The orange, yellow and red of the tomatoes - a mixture of colours that are next to each other and a third away on the colour wheel - make a truly delicious combination of colours which almost jangles in front of the eyes.

The pomegranite against the blue sky and green leaves shows a mixture of blue and green (next to each other on the colour wheel) against the orange/yellow of the pomegranite. So, sort of complementary colours blue and orange with some extra bits I think makes a vibrant but also quite relaxing combination.
