The purple of the flower contrasts against the green of the leaves and makes it really stick out. I wanted to show the lines of the green leaves and flower petals which are similar to each other in comparison to the contrasting colours.
These gourds showing yellow and very dark green - almost navy blue - are a good example of contrasting colours. The patterns on the gourds accentuate the contrasts because they all run against one another. The shapes of the gourds also create more pattern because they are one of top of another. I really love these colours together and felt drawn to taking a close up to really accentuate the contrasts and amazing patterns.
The pink and orange of these maps was something I noticed on the shelf at home as being a good example of contrasting colours. They are clashing against one another but also look attractive. The evenness of the lines of each map make the pattern look even and quite ordered.
These tins of tuna are a good example of contrasting colours red and yellow. Again, I liked the evenness of the pattern they create which is why I focussed in so that the tins filled the whole screen. They don't look quite so clashing as the orange and pink of the maps but because the colours are so different in a way I don't find them as appealing as the orange/pink. They look more stark somehow.
